Isabelle Alvarez a is researcher at INRAE, the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment. She holds a masters degree in mathematics and engineering (1986), in agricultural and environmental engineering (1988) and a PhD in computer science (1992). Her work has always been committed to supporting end-users of decision support systems, at LIP6 and Cemagref (later merged into INRAE). Her present work focuses on decision in the framework of the mathematical viability theory, mainly applied to the sustainable management of socio-ecosystems. She is responsible for the Viability Network at INRAE since 2020.
